The Department of Transport has written to its staff to reassure them about legal protection during race festivals and special events.
In its letter, the department says those helping to prepare for the TT, Manx Grand Prix and other events are covered by insurance.
The letter also says the DoT’s involvement in such events is limited to highways maintenance and traffic control, and does not include marshalling duties.
The DoT says it believes the letter meets all concerns raised by the Whitley Council during a meeting in April.
