Residents urged to check banknotes before they're withdrawn from circulation

Paper £20 and £50 notes to be pulled at the end of September

Isle of Man residents are being urged to check if they have any UK paper £20 or £50 notes before they're withdrawn from circulation at the end of September.

They can be paid into banks or exchanged for newer notes, and some businesses may still accept them while they remain legal tender.

The withdrawal follows the introduction of polymer, or plastic, versions of both notes which include additional security features designed to make them harder to forge.

Isle of Man Bank will continue to accept the discontinued notes after the deadline and send them to the UK, with other local banks expected to take a similar approach.

Further information about the withdrawal of the paper UK £20 and £50 notes can be found here.
