Rising Ballasalla population 'unlikely' to affect Post Office service

Post Office CEO doesn't expect to see increased demand

Increasing the population in Ballasalla is "unlikely" to affect the number of people using the village's post office counter service.

That's from the Isle of Man Post Office CEO Simon Kneen, as a public consultation is underway on its future.

The subpostmaster confirmed he's to step down at the end of his contract in March.

Plans now look to convert the facility into a kiosk, similar to those in St John's and Pulrose.

Mr Kneen has responded to concerns that developments would see an increased demand for a counter service:

Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker has long been vocal about the post office's direction of travel, and says it's important people speak up:

A public meeting on the matter is to be held in the village hall on 17 January, at 7pm.
