Runway question answered

The new runway extension planned for Ronaldsway Isle of Man Airport will stand up to any severe weather conditions which could be expected on the Island.

Transport Minster David Anderson told the House of Keys that he was confident that modelling of the proposed scheme at Ronaldsway showed it would be a robust and effective design, suitable for the area.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran had raised the issue, as a similar project in Shetland had suffered storm damage earlier this month.

Whilst agreeing that the promontory at Sumburgh was similar in design, Mr Anderson said they had NOT carried out any modelling:
