School moves to stamp out cyber bullying

The head of the Island’s largest secondary school says it will always move quickly to stamp out cyber bullying.

It follows plans by the UK government to jail those convicted of cyber-bullying and text message abuse.

New figures show a significant rise in bullying through text messages, prank phone calls and abusive posts on social networking sites.

That has also led to increased concerns about self-harming.

Head of Ballakermeen, Adrienne Burnett, says her school will not tolerate online abuse and always encourage responsible use of social media.
