Schools and government offices closed for Queen's funeral

GP surgeries also shut but MEDS and some pharmacies open

Manx schools will remain closed today, and government offices are shut, as the Island observes a bank holiday for the Queen's funeral.

The Isle of Man Government says essential public services will operate as normal but Manx Care has confirmed some appointments have been rescheduled.

Cancer patients, and those needing time-sensitive procedures, will be seen as scheduled but some less urgent appointments have been cancelled.

GP surgeries will remain closed, but MEDS will be available for those in need of an emergency appointment, while Costains Pharmacy in Ballasalla (9am to 11am), Lloyds Pharmacy at Shoprite in Ramsey (10am - 11am) and Boots in Douglas (10am to 11am, and 1pm to 4.30pm) will open.

A number of retailers, including Shoprite and Tesco, have announced they'll be keeping their doors closed but Heron and Brearley says a number of its sites will open in the hope the community will commemorate the occasion together.

Isle of Man Transport has confirmed its bus network will operate a Sunday timetable but no rail services will be running today.
