September 2026 warmer but duller than average

Ronaldsway Met Office also recorded above average rainfall last month

Last month was the third warmest September on the Isle of Man since records began, despite less sunshine than average.

The mild temperatures were accompanied by above average rainfall and high cloud coverage.

Figures published by the Ronaldsway Met Office show an average temperature for September of 15.3C, which is 1.4C above average for the month.

A total of 89mm of rainfall was recorded at Ronaldsway, around 27 percent more than average, with the met office saying the month was not characterised by one exceptional rainfall event, but frequent rain throughout September.

A total of 20 rain days and 16 wet days were recorded, compared to averages of 14.9 and 10.8 respectively.

The 121.4 hours of recorded sunshine were 15 percent below the average of 142.6, while 58 percent of hourly observations saw high cloud coverage.

Persistent winds were also observed, with nine days of strong winds but no gales recorded throughout the month.
