Century tribute to Passchendaele fallen

Two Ramsey serviceman will be remembered this evening - 100 years to the day since they were killed in action.

Private Ernest Clarey died at the Battle of Passchendaele, aged 26, leaving a widow and two children.

He was a painter and decorator in Ramsey before enlisting, and later qualified for a Victory Medal and a British War Medal.

The life of Corporal Charles Sayle, of Shipyard Road in the town, will also be remembered.

He was killed in France on August the first, 1917, aged 39.

A short gathering will be held at Ramsey war memorial at six thirty.
