Successful visit by 'Chernobyl children'

A group of youngsters from Belarus has returned home after spending a month in the Isle of Man.

The 19 visitors had an action packed four weeks, including a visit to the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas to see the opening night of the 'King and I'.

They also had health checks on the effects of the excessive radiation in their home country, caused by the meltdown of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in 1986.

Norman Rivers from the charity Friends of Chernobyl's Children, which organised the trip, says the youngsters really enjoyed their time here:
