This week saw a debate in Tynwald on whether the Department of Infrastructure should spend £1.75 million to prevent Ramsey's Queen's Pier from falling into dereliction.
The politicians supported the move to stabilise and protect the structure, but the motion passed through the House of Keys by a single vote.
Many MHKs said the pier wasn’t worth keeping, would be too expensive to bring back into use and wouldn’t attract tourists.
