Highest biomass ever recorded for juvenile and adult scallops
A study into the volume and quality of king scallop stocks in Manx waters has produced the best results ever ahead of the start of the new fishing season.
It's been carried out annually by Bangor University over the last 32 years.
The results are mirrored in a local industry survey which also shows the highest biomass ever recorded for both juvenile and adult scallops.
David Beard is the chief executive of the Isle of Man Fish Producers Association.
He's overseen a four-year conservation programme and told Manx Radio the latest surveys signal a new mood of optimism in the industry:
Completion of assisted dying bill 'the most significant moment of 2025'
Keep dogs away from Garwick Beach for next few days
Cost of sending a letter on the Island to increase in January
