Survey shows disconnect between politicians and sixth formers.

Over 250 16 and 17 year olds involved in research

A Manx Radio survey has revealed a disconnect between Manx politicians, and sixth formers.

Over 250 16 and 17 year olds took part in the exercise and whilst 95% could name Donald Trump as the US president, only 34% knew the name of the Isle of Man's Chief Minister.

24% of respondents could name one of their MHKs, and 22% could name both.

Just 29% plan to use their vote in 2021 and of those, 52% feel well informed.

51% claimed they have not heard a Manx politician speak in the last twelve months.

You can hear William King's full investigation in a special programme at 9.30am on Sunday (30 Dec)
