A Warwickshire man who paid for beer with a forged bank note during last year’s TT has escaped a prison sentence.
Darran Damien Brophy passed the fake £20 note to staff in the Bushy’s Beer tent in Douglas on May 30.
The 30 year-old had been granted bail, but failed to appear in court and had to be brought back to the Island by police.
He admitted the offence, and was given a three month prison sentence, suspended for two years, by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.
Brophy was also ordered to forfeit his £5,000 bail surety and was banned from the Island for five years.
