Tainted batch of Ketamine did cause concerns say police

But sergeant says no further reports of overdose issues

A contaminated batch of Ketamine on the Isle of Man did cause ‘massive concerns’ for police and the government.

That’s the view of one police sergeant who says he doesn’t believe the prevalence of the drug is an issue at present.

Last week Public Health issued a warning about the tainted batch which had resulted in more than six people requiring medical attention.

Chas Maloney heads up the Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team:

Public Health is reminding people to be aware of the symptoms of a Ketamine overdose which they say can be similar to what users experience as a high.

However the side effects can be deadly and include dangerously low breathing and unconsciousness.

Anyone who does experience overdose symptoms is urged to call 999 immediately.
