Take extra time for journeys, urges Met Office

The Department of Infrastructure dealing with a fallen tree in Kirk Michael

Amber warning for heavy rain this morning

Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys this morning as heavy rain is likely to lead to standing water on the Island's roads.

That's the message from Ronaldsway Met Office, which has issued an amber weather warning until midday today.

Conditions could lead to flash flooding and difficult driving conditions, particularly along the east and northeast coasts.

The Department of Infrastructure has had crews out since 5am working to keep roads clear, and has been tackling a number of fallen trees.
