Teachers and students go back to school

The long weekend is over for thousands of students at the Island's schools, and the Isle of Man College.

They are returning to their classrooms this morning (Tuesday), after an unexpected day off yesterday, due mainly to the trecherous condition of the Island's roads.

The Department of Education and Children announced the schools and the Pre School Assessment Centre would be open again yesterday afternoon, although there are some concerns over possible reduced school bus services.

Bus Vannin is due to make an announcement at 7.15am on any restrictions.

The department is also urging parents to take extra care when dropping off their children, as some school car parks won't have been gritted and may still be icy.

Pupils at King William's College and the Buchan school are also being asked to attend lessons as normal today.
