Teenager pulled a knife on his Mum

Forty hours of community service for 18-year-old

A Douglas man who threatened to smash his mother’s phone and iPad will spend a year being supervised by probation.

Eighteen-year-old Cameron Reekie of Broadway appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas courthouse.

At a previous hearing, he’d pleaded guilty to threatening to damage property and using provoking behaviour.

On 19 August, his mother asked him to move some of his property from the family’s home in Santon after commissioners got in touch.

Reekie responded by swearing at her and threatening to break the items.

He then pulled a knife from a block in the kitchen and held it up, prompting her to call police.

Mr Arrowsmith heard Reekie had a previous conviction for carrying a bladed article in public.

He imposed a combination order, meaning Reekie will do 40 hours of community service and 12 months of probation supervision.

He’ll also pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
