Supermarket gains alcohol licence
The owner of the Strand Shopping Centre says he’s confident a decision to allow Tesco to sell alcohol from one of his units will be good for Douglas town centre.
The supermarket has been granted a provisional licence for its proposed new store in the complex in the former Manx Electricity Authority shop.
Brian Eaton says the arrival of Tesco Express will mean a rise in the number of people visiting the capital’s main shopping thoroughfare.
He’s thanked other retailers who’d supported the application and hopes to announce more good news about the centre’s other empty units in the near future.
