Thunderstorms causing disruption to Gatwick flights

Flights to and from Ronaldsway cancelled

easyJet says thunderstorms in the London Gatwick area are to blame for recent disruption to flights to and from the Isle of Man.

Passengers were stranded yesterday and again this morning after flights were cancelled.

More than 15-thousand passengers due to take off from Gatwick have had their flights cancelled by the airline because of severe weather.

54 were grounded yesterday and 55 today due to "conditions across UK and Europe".

Tonight's 9:05pm easyJet flight to London Gatwick is currently due to depart as scheduled.

The airline says diversions and cancellations across are having a knock-on effect as a number of aircraft are out of position.

It says it's doing all possible to minimise the impact on customers, providing those on cancelled flights with options to rebook or receive a refund as well as hotel accommodation and meals where required.

While it says the situation in Gatwick is out of its control, easyJet has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Friday morning's flight to London Gatwick was also cancelled, causing some issues for bike fans flying to the Island ahead of the day's racing and the senior TT, which Manx Radio understands was caused by an issue with the aircraft.
