'Time for update' on national autism strategy

MHK calls for report to be published after postponement

What progress has been made towards an Autism Spectrum Condition Strategy on the Island?

That's a question that Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover plans to put to the health minister. 

In December Lawrie Hooper said an autism strategy had to be delayed to focus on 'immediate issues'.

He said a report would be out by this April which also marks Autism Awareness Month.

Mr Glover says it's important a report is released soon:


Meanwhile a Manx charity says the Isle of Man needs to become more 'autism friendly'.

Autism in Mann supports people with the developmental disability.

Carol Williams, a co-opted member of the charity, says there are currently 'little pockets' that recognise autism but the charity would like to see more:
