Tough year for crops - minister

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says it may have been a bad year for turnips and potatoes – but the Island should be fine for bread for the foreseeable future.

Mr Gawne says poor weather and bad growing conditions meant many of this year’s Manx harvests have failed.

But he says the Island’s wheat crop, while poorer than usual, will provide enough flour to keep loaves being made on the Island.

He says it’s been a tough year for growers:
