Tragedy after memorial service

Tragedy has struck again after the funeral of TT newcomer Marc Ramsbotham.

A schoolfriend on his way home from a celebration of Mr Ramsbotham’s life has died in a road traffic accident.

Father of two Rikki Gardiner was driving home from the memorial at Snetterton Race Circuit (pictured) when he lost control of his vehicle in wet weather and collided with a sign.

Hours before the accident Mr Gardiner had joined a procession of more than 50 motorcyclists and other vehicles to Wymondham Abbey for Mr Ramsbotham's funeral service.

Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

Mr Ramsbotham died during the last race of the Centenary TT in an incident which also claimed the lives of two spectators and left two marshals seriously injured.

He and Mr Gardiner attended school together in Norfolk, and had ridden bikes together.

Mr Gardiner’s wife Vicki paid tribute to her husband describing him as a 'loving father' to his sons Brett and Luca.

She said her husband had been hit hard by Mr Ramsbotham's death and had made renewed efforts to catch up with other schoolfriends.
