Transsexual marriage flaw in gender bill

A former law lecturer believes he has spotted what could be a fatal flaw within the Island’s Gender Recognition Bill.

The proposed new law, which is down for third reading in the House of Keys today, covers the right of the clergy not to perform marriages for transsexuals.

But Peter Murcott says clergymen have no right of disclosure within the bill, which means they would have no way of knowing if a person who was getting married had changed gender:
