Will next appear before the Court of General Gaol Delivery

A Douglas man will stand trial after denying making and possessing nearly 62,000 indecent images of children.

The 46-year-old, who can't be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.

He denied 35 offences, which included making 58 still images, and possessing 61,826 still images and 9 moving images.

They have been categorised using the Child Abuse Image Database, rated in category A if they're the most severe, and category C for the least serious images.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between November 2009 and December 2024, and feature images from all three categories.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood declined jurisdiction over the case; due to the number of images, the varied categorisation, and the time period of the alleged offences.

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery – will take place on 7 October; he’s been bailed until that date.
