Chris Packham has written to chair of the planning committee
A wildlife TV presenter has contacted the chair of the Isle of Man's planning committee over plans to fell several elm trees in St Marks.
Chris Packham has written a letter to Martyn Perkins over proposals to fell around 25 elms on Braaid Road as part of a planning application.
Mr Packham has asked Mr Perkins to 'find a better solution' and work alongside Manx Wildlife Trust and the landowner of the planning proposal to improve access and save the trees.
Around 60 protestors gathered outside Tynwald this morning over the issue, which will be the subject of an urgent House of Keys question today.
I've asked @MartynPerkins1 to please find a better solution and work alongside @manxnature and the landowner to improve the current access and save the Elm trees .@IOMGovernment @GeoffreyBoot #ElmTreeTunnel #ManxNature #OurBiosphere pic.twitter.com/ywLFxChJXR— Chris Packham (@ChrisGPackham) June 29, 2021
