UK GP representative visiting the IoM

Attending GP's quarterly meeting

It's an important day for the Island's doctors today, as they welcome the chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners to the Isle of Man.

During her visit, Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard will attend the GP's quarterly meeting, which is taking place this afternoon, to give a talk and discuss their current concerns.

Dr John Snelling is on the GP committee of the Isle of Man Medical Society.

He says one of the purposes of Professor Stokes-Lampard's visit is to highlight the importance of general practice within the health service as a whole.

Routine GP appointments will not be available this afternoon (Tues), however, urgent appointments will be available through on-call GPs and anyone needing to see a doctor should ring their GP practice as normal.

Practices will remain open during the afternoon for patients to visit the practice nurse, collect test results, make future appointments and order repeat prescriptions as normal.
