Vaccine programme moves 'at pace'

Letters being sent to those aged 75-79

People aged between 75 and 79 will soon be able to book their Covid-19 vaccinations.

Letters are currently being sent to residents in that group as the programme continues to ‘roll out at pace’.

Invitations for the next priority group - residents who are extremely clinically vulnerable and their carers and the over-70s – are also due to be issued over the coming 10 days.

It comes after more than 70 per cent of the top two priority groups received their first jab with almost 12,000 administered in total.

Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford says: “Having beaten the virus back once again we are rolling up our sleeves to get jabs in arms.

“Those receiving invitations should register as soon as possible to ensure they are protecting themselves and those around them.”

As well as a letter recipients will receive an information leaflet explaining the process and instructions on how to register via 111.

Following registration the 111 team will contact the individual with details of their appointment – this can be at short notice to avoid wastage of the vaccine.

People are encouraged to take the first available slot, regardless of the venue it is offered at, unless the GP has advised that there is a clinical reason not to do so.

Home based appointments are available for those who are housebound.
