Plan are underway for events to mark the 50th anniversary of the Winter Hill disaster in Bolton.
The Island’s worst ever air disaster happened in February, 1958, when a Silver City Airways aircraft crashed into Winter Hill killing 35 people on board.
The plane was travelling from the Isle of Man to Manchester and a committee has been set up by the Rotary of Horwich to commemorate the tragedy.
Next year, on February 27, a wreath will be placed at the site about 350 yards from the Winter Hill TV mast.
There will also be a church service attended by Mayor of Bolton Barbara Ronson, and Mayor of Horwich Ken Denton.
Plans are also in place for an exhibition of pictures from the disaster and a plaque will be unveiled at the nearby Horwich Heritage Centre.
