Woman murdered Manx mum

A grandmother who stabbed her Manx daughter-in-law to death faces a life sentence after being convicted of murder.

Heather Emmonds stabbed Tina Casey to death at her home in Holywell in Tyneside after a row in February.

Emmonds had previously tried to poison her son’s former partner twice before attacking her.

Newcastle Crown Court heard Emmonds snapped after being told Miss Casey was planning to move back to the Isle of Man with her young son.

After stabbing her 15 times in the neck and abdomen, Emmonds burned blood-stained clothes and went out to bingo.

The murder was discovered after Emmonds crashed her car and police found the knife and letters explaining the killing inside.

Today, the jury of five women and seven men took two hours to find her guilty.

Judge John Milford QC told the 58 year old she can expect to receive a life term when she’s sentenced tomorrow (Friday).
