Women of Mann calls for change after Everard killing

'This is unacceptable and we need to talk about it'

A grassroots feminist organisation on the Island hopes conversations on male harassment and violence towards women can be held after the killing of Sarah Everard.

Last night, Women of Mann arranged a doorstep vigil for the 33-year-old marketing executive from South London.

Group member Stacey Astill says she hopes the shocking incident can be a catalyst for change.

She spoke to Ewan Gawne:

Chief Inspector Juliette Everett heads up the Multi Agency Protection Unit and provided Manx Radio with the following statement:

"“The Isle of Man is an incredibly safe place to live and we pride ourselves with this fact. However, should anyone feel unsafe please do not hesitate to report it to us, the Police; on 631212, for non-emergency calls and 999 for all emergency calls please.

We take every call seriously, everyone  on the Island should feel safe going about their daily business, and we will do all we can to ensure they are able to do so.”
