Manx competitors make good impression in Ellesmere Port
Report by Dave Griffiths:
Team Isle of Man travelled to Ellesmere Port on Saturday to contest the first of four fixtures during the season in the Western Premier Division of the Northern Track & Field League.
Meghan Pilley cracked her 100m PB with an impressive 12.4, and her time of 26.2 for the 200m was an outdoor PB. Molly Phillips ran a significant PB in the 200m of 28.4, and Catherine Perry’s time of 71.1 for the 400m hurdles was also a PB.
An impressive debutante was U17 athlete Ashleigh Schreuder, whose Triple Jump of 9.07m was very promising.
Megan Lockwood and Tazmin Fayle covered all the throwing events between them, and Megan came close to her PB in the Hammer.
Elsewhere, Sarah Astin and Rachael Franklin both performed extremely well over 10km at the weekend – Sarah on the track in London and Rachael on the road in Manchester.
Sarah misjudged her laps and thought she had finished after 24 laps, only to be told she had another to do which she described as the hardest 400 metres of her life.
