Bacchas and Valkyrs hit 22 goals between them

Reigning champions Bacchas A maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of Manx hockey's Mixed Premier League, with a resounding 10-0 win against Ramsey A.

Alex Bell led the charge with five goals, giving an early indication of his potential to be the top scorer in the division for the 2011-2012 season. The other players on target were Jerry Vernon-Browne and Jonny Callow, with two each, and Jamie Brown.

It was a disappointing result for the young Ramsey team, and they need to start picking up some points soon. On a slightly more positive note, at least they have played two of the 'big three' sides in their first three games.

Valkyrs A had an even more comprehensive win away to Sarcens Sabres, scoring twelve without reply. It was a return to form after a disappointing draw with Vikings A in their previous game, and put them a point behind Bacchas at the top of the early season table. Ollie Webster went two better than Alex Bell, with seven goals, and was supported by no fewer than five players who grabbed one goal each. They were Andrew Kneen, Gareth Morris, Greg Miller, Chris Caldwell and Rob Mylchreest.

Valkyrs B beat Bacchas B by the odd goal in five, in a close and exciting match. Ashley Hall gave Valkyrs the lead in the first five minutes, and Chris Killey and Ste Lowe also got on the scoresheet. Tom Wilson and Karl Moore replied for their opponents.

Arguably the tightest match of the day came when the top two sides met in Mixed Division One. Vikings B picked up the spoils of victory with a single goal against Bacchas Colts, the scorer being Ashley Osborne, a former Bacchas player, after three minutes of his debut game. The win saw Vikings move clear at the top of the table.

Vikings C recorded their first win of the season, putting four past a Cushags side who continued to struggle to score. The players who netted for Vikings were Richie Gelder, with a brace, Cassie Quirk and Danny Harnill.

Viking's D side also picked up both points, in another tight game, against Vikings C. Dani Kelly opened the club's goal account for the season, and Ian Duggua got the second. Emma Faulkner replied for Valkyrs.

It was a successful day for Ramsey in Division Two and the U 16s Mixed League, with the club scoring a hattrick of victories. Ravens, Rascals and Rogues picked up two points each, hitting a total of 18 goals.
