
Mark Cavendish's Tour de France green jersey hopes were dealt a severe blow today.
He was in a group of riders which was dropped by the peloton on one of the climbs on stage seven.
They tried to catch up for a while, but gave up the chase with around 40km remaining and finished the stage almost 15 minutes behind the leaders.
The man currently at the top of the points classification - Peter Sagan - won the stage, further increasing his lead in the standings.
Meanwhile, Peter Kennaugh came in one minute, twenty-four seconds behind the leaders.
