Big wins for top two in men's hockey

Second placed Vikings A had a thumping 6-0 win against Castletown A, who started the day level with them on points in third position, in the match of the day in the men's premier league.

Five of the goals came in the second half, and the scorers were Simon Foster (2), Steve Crowe, Andy Harding, Gerry Quinn and Conor Byrne.

But Valkyrs A stayed top, a point clear of Vikings, when they scored seven without reply at home to Vikings B. Ollie Webster bagged a hat-trick and the other players on target were Neil Jacobs, Gareth Morris, Greg Miller and Dave Hall. It was 3-0 at half-time.

The other game in the top divison saw Harlequins and Valkyrs B share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Tony Mansell and Peter Foxton, with a penalty, scored for Quins, who led 2-1 at the interval. Vic Fearns and Ollie Lockley replied for Valkyrs.

Ramsey moved two points clear at the top of division one, when they beat Vikings C, and second placed Castletown B suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat at home to Bacchas C.

Vikings A maintained their 100 record at the top of the women's premier league. Kim Carney, with a hat-trick, Della Williams (2) and Karen Faragher scored as they beat Castletown A 6-0 to make it six straight wins!

Second placed Valkyrs A managed a 3-2 win against Bacchas A but, with two points for a win, Vikings remain six points clear.
