Douglas and Vagas win but Ramsey falter at home

Douglas’ run of form in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two continued with a 19-10 win away at bottom side Trentham.

Carl Markle-Fearns and Simon Heggs both crossed for Douglas tries with Bryn Snellgrove adding three penalties to keep them in the hunt at the top end of the table with a game in hand.

Vagabonds secured a bonus point win, 27-5 away at Southport, with an accomplished performance.

The Manx side led 19-0 at half-time with tries from Leigh Kennaugh, Chris Neill and Ross McCulloch, plus two Kennaugh conversions.

McCulloch added his second after half-time with Leigh Kennaugh adding a penalty just to steady the ship after Southport picked up a late try.

Ramsey were simply outpowered by a strong Sefton pack at the Mooragh Park and lost out 8-0 in atrocious weather conditions.

Ramsey had the wind at their backs in the first half but failed to make the most of the few scoring chances which came their way and the two sides turned around 0-0.

Sefton, however, didn’t make the same mistake and centre Colin Pascoe gave them the lead with a try 10 minutes into the second half.

Wayne Osborne landed a late penalty to deny Ramsey even a losing bonus point.
