Douglas drop to 10th

Champions on top in Shield

There was frustration for Douglas in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One on Saturday.


They went down 37-5 in their rearranged match to Bowdon.


It was a double blow for the Manx side which had already been deducted five points for failing to play the fixture earlier in the season.


Bowden leapfrog Douglas in the table with this result. Douglas drop to 10th.


The spoils were shared in Women’s NC North One as Vagabonds and Doncaster drew 10-10.


In their first match for a month, tries from Rachel Beckley and Lizzie Lennon gave Vagas a 10-0 interval lead.


Doncaster hit back in the second period and levelled with five minutes remaining.


In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield, reigning champions Southern Nomads showed their class with a 31-15 success at Douglas B to move top for the first time this season.


Steve McHugh netted two tries and was joined on the scoresheet by Gerard Landels, Harry Catlow and Jacob Callow.


Skipper Mark Young converted three times.


Douglas replied with tries from Tom Chamberlain, Charlie Henthorn and Chris Beaumont.


A strengthened Vagabonds B put 73 points past Western Vikings, who could only muster seven in reply.


Emerging Nomads ran out 45-26 winners over a spirited Castletown, while Ramsey B emerged victorious, 28-17 against battling Noa Nomads.
