Ballymoney man racks up 35th victory in dominant showing
Michael Dunlop MBE showcased another dominant performance as he swept to a commanding win in today's Supersport TT Race 2.
After an early battle with Dean Harrison, Dunlop took control on the second and third laps to eventually take top spot 26.1 seconds clear of his nearest challenger.
Meanwhile, Harrison made it back-to-back second-placed finishes in the class in 2026 with Peter Hickman completing the top three in third.
The result means it's a repeat of the same positions on the podium as occurred in the first Supersport race of this year's racing fortnight on Tuesday (2 June).
Given more favourable conditions today compared to Tuesday's opening Supersport event, the pace started out quicker across the board.
As was the case in the first race in the class, the battle out front was between Dean Harrison and Michael Dunlop early on with the former edging ahead on near-lap record pace from a standing start to head into the first and only pit stop of the race 3.6 seconds ahead of Dunlop.
Meanwhile, the battle for third after a lap one saw Peter Hickman in the top three and Paul Jordan in fourth separated by less than five seconds on the way into pit lane.
Josh Brookes completed the first lap top-five with not much to choose elsewhere and further back in the tussle for top-ten places.
Back at the front, and a quick pit routine from Dunlop paid dividends - his swift stop saw him overhaul Harrison by less than two seconds in the timings heading through Glen Helen on lap two.
Meanwhile, Dominic Herbertson at Glen Helen on the second lap had moved up into the top five ahead of Brookes by less than one second.
Now in the groove, Dunlop began to press his advantage for the remainder of lap two and his efforts were evident as - having taken the lead minutes ago - he went onto the third and final run around the course leaving Harrison a 16-second gap to have to overcome.
In the fight for the remaining podium place, Hickman was now asserting his dominance to end lap two ten seconds ahead of Jordan in fourth whilst Brookes had retaken fifth from Herbertson.
Another development slightly further back saw Manxman, Conor Cummins retire at the end of lap two whilst looking to chip away for a place in the leading ten riders.
As the final lap wore on, the outcome of who would be in the winners enclosure started to become much clearer with gaps opening up across the top five.
And leading all of that, once again, was Dunlop who would secure yet another set of back-to-back Supersport wins and take the chequered flag whilst Harrison - despite his early efforts - had to settle for second spot 26.1 seconds back.
Rounding out the top three was Hickman - who'd shaken off any advances following the first lap - with the 14-time TT winner taking third 13.5 seconds behind Harrison.
