Ravens resume hunt for first points in 2023

After a disappointing defeat earlier this week, FC Isle of Man will face a tricky test when they face an in-form Kendal Town at The Bowl in the NWCFL Premier Division this Saturday (7 January).

The Ravens will be hunting for their first points of the new year after they missed the chance to do so in a sobering 3-4 defeat at home to relegation-threatened Burscough on Monday (2 January).

They come up against a Kendal Town side who have only lost once in their last nine outings in all competitions.

FC IoM interim manager, Paul Jones, gave his thoughts on his side's loss four days ago, and what it might take to find more consistent results in the long run:

Going into the weekend, the Island side sit 17th in the NWCFL Premier Division after 25 games with 26 points.

They're level on points with Saturday's opponents but have played five games more than the Cumbrian side so far.

A win for the Ravens tomorrow could see them, at least temporarily, go as high as 14th in the table depending on results around them.

Their form has been mixed in recent weeks with three wins from their last six along with three losses.

Saturday evening's test is expected to be a tricky one with Kendal Town boasting one of the best form records in the division in recent weeks.

They have four wins from their last six in all competitions, losing just once in their last nine outings.

'The Mintcakes' were held to a 2-2 draw in midweek away at Squires Gate - that was their first game since 7 December after four of their games last month had to be postponed.

FC Isle of Man vs Kendal Town takes place at The Bowl this Saturday, 7 January, kicking-off at 6pm.
