Footballer aims to raise 50k for Isle Listen

Shannon Groves to take on 110km artic trek

Footballer Shannon Groves is preparing herself for a challenge like no other in aid of a local charity.

In March, she will attempt a 110km snowshoe trek above the Artic Circle.

Expedition Limitless is taking place in Artic Sweden between 26 March and 4 April.

Shannon and 11 others will be trying to raise £50k for local charity Isle Listen

Shannon said:

'Although this expedition will test my own mental ability and resilience, there’s also a personal reason behind my partaking.

'I’ve been a carer for my mum who suffers with bipolar and depression since the age of twelve. Because of this, I’ve seen the importance of mental health charities such as Isle Listen.

Providing people with the correct support is crucial for people to be able to thrive in life. Raising awareness and educating people around mental health is also incredibly important if we’re to reduce the stigma.

I’m so grateful and honoured that my contribution to this expedition will enable many people to receive mental health support and education through the money and awareness raised for this incredible charity.

Any donation, no matter how small will be hugely valued!'
