League champions St Mary's defeated
A second-half penalty was enough to give Peel the first silverware of the new Manx football season.
The Westerners beat St Mary’s 1-0 in the Eric Fletcher Charity Shield at the Bowl yesterday evening.
Skipper Lee Gale stepped up to convert the spot-kick with little more than ten minutes remaining on the clock.
The Douglas side couldn't find an equaliser and ended the match with ten men after Alex Harrison received his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the closing stages.
It ended with Gale's goal the difference as Peel got the new season off to a winning start.
