This weekend marks 25 years since series first began
Hundreds of some of the biggest talents in British cycling are descending on the Isle of Man this weekend for a major event on the UK's junior cycling calendar.
The 2026 Isle of Man Youth Tour gets underway later today (1 May) and runs until Sunday (3 May) with competitors to take on three days of closed roads racing around the Island.
This year also marks 25 years since the series first started back in 2001 and in previous years it's welcomed some of the top local names in the sport including Sir Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh, Anna Christian and Lizzie Holden.
The tour's Technical Director, Rob Holden, says for those taking part, having the chance to compete in dedicated, closed-road events is important for their cycling development:
The tour will begin tonight (1 May) with a time trial event along the Douglas Promenade walkway which is due to get underway from 6pm.
The first road race of the series will then take place tomorrow (2 May) on a circuit in the Jurby area between 10am and no later than 4.30pm.
Rounding out the tour will be another closed roads event on what is known as the 'Stuggadhoo' circuit in the Braaid and St Mark's region with roads on the course shut from 9.30am until 4pm at the latest.
Furthermore, the tour will once again form part of the British Cycling National Youth Circuit Series.
