Long-serving MHK is ready for top job

The leader of the Liberal Vannin party believes he would make a 'reasonable job' of being the Isle of Man's chief minister.

Peter Karran has represented the three-seat constituency since 1985, and in the last election in 2006 received more votes than any other candidate across the Island.

On Manx Radio this morning (Tuesday), Mr Karran said he felt the electorate was ready for change and if the chief minster's job became available, he could rise to the challenge (listen to audio file below):

Mr Karran has confirmed he will be defending his seat in the general election in September.

The other people who have declared so far are sitting member David Quirk, Brian Stowell and June Kelly.
