LVP candidate on Mandate as election coverage begins

More affordable housing is needed in the Isle of Man and there must be greater accountability and honesty in government.

That's according to 45-year-old Liberal Vannin Party candidate Juan Cottier, who is standing in the constituency of Middle.

He studied engineering, spent time in the RAF and has also worked in banking.

Appearing live on Mandate this morning (Monday, June 13), Mr Cottier said the LVP would be pushing for the long awaited Freedom of Information Act to be brought in.

He was asked to elaborate on what he meant by the need for more accountability (listen to audio file below):

Two other people have so far indicated their intention to contest the single seat in Middle, namely Howard Quayle, and the sitting member Martyn Quayle.

All the candidates for the 15 constituencies will be offered the chance to appear on Mandate between now and nominations day (August 30).

There will also be a series of longer form interviews on Agenda, Perspective and Talking Heads, the first of which is with sitting Glenfaba MHK and Health Minister David Anderson, on Agenda at 6.30 this evening.
