Nominations open for 2022 IoM Sports Awards

Twelve honours will be up for grabs at ceremony in March

Nominations have opened for the 2022 Isle of Man Sports Awards.

Residents are now being invited to select athletes, teams or officials they feel are deserving of honours for their work over the past year.

Twelve accolades will be up for grabs with the awards ceremony taking place at the Villa Marina in Douglas on Thursday, 30 March.

Among last year's winners, Mark Cavendish was named 'sportsman of the year' with gymnast Tara Donnelly taking the 'sportswoman of the year' title.

Meanwhile, the Manx Rams' netball squad were crowned 'team of the year' whilst their captain, Ashley Hall, was named 'coach of the year'.

Elsewhere, the 'Disability sportsperson of the year' accolade was awarded to footballer Sean Jackson.

Nominations for the 2022 awards must be submitted before the deadline on Sunday, 29 January, 2023.

Nominees must be Manx-born and have contributed to Island sport or have resided on the Isle of Man for at least two years.

The categories for the awards are listed below:

- Sportsman of the Year
- Sportswoman of the Year
- IOM Sports Ambassador
- Under 21 Sportsman of the Year
- Under 21 Sportswoman of the Year
- Disability Sportsperson of the Year
- Veteran Sportsperson of the Year
- Sports Administrator of the Year

Sports Coach of the Year
- Sports Team of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement
- The 'Leonie Cooil Courage & Inspiration Award'
