Ramsey and Vagas meet in local derby

Both won on the opening day

It's been just under three years since Ramsey and Vagabonds were in the same division of the National Leagues.

Back then both teams were in Cheshire (South) and, while the games between the two were honours even, Ramsey had dipped a little by the end of the season.

A post-season restructure saw them separated by a narrow margin with Vagas heading into a new South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two and Ramsey slipping into Division Three.

Since then, the clubs' fortunes have been quite different.

Ramsey went off for some National Cup adventure and made the quarter-finals while Vagas suffered a well documented slump and are now looking to bounce back.

On the opening day, Vagas registered an impressive win away at Prenton; picking up their first bonus points in nearly two years in the process.

Ramsey also had a big win at the Mooragh against tricky opposition but thrashed Newton le Willows 50-10.

Injuries may be a factor heading into this weekend's fixture, with doubts cast over the availability of Ramsey's Harri Radford, Eddie Lord, Dave Keenan, Will Wren and Ethan Benjamin.

Neil Long is also ruled out due to concussion protocol.

However, the northern outfit will be boosted by the likely return of John F Watling, Mark Oldfield and Anthony Fergusson.

In contrast, there are no new injury worries from the Ballafletcher camp as Vagas look to be at full strength.

Recent encounters between the two have not yielded many points, and this weekend looks set to be another hard scrap for the forwards - with last week's hat-trick heroes Cam Inglis and Dan Bonwick hoping to shine once more.
