Manx teams make long-awaited return in friendlies against Warrington RUFC
The first Isle of Man national rugby sides for more than 20 years have had mixed results during a double-header of fixtures off-Island this afternoon (16 May).
Facing teams from Warrington RUFC today, the 'Ellan Vannin' squad fell to a narrow 29-31 defeat at the hands of Warrington's second squad.
After that contest, the second Manx side - the 'Isle of Man' squad - went on to take a convincing 57-12 victory over Warrington RUFC's first team.
Earlier this week, the Isle of Man's rugby development officer, Kris Hattam, said there are now hopes in the long-term for the national setup to become a more regular occurrence in the local game.
For their hosts, Warrington, meanwhile, it follows a season in which their first team earned promotion to Regional 2 North West, where they'll face Isle of Man club, Douglas in the next campaign.
