Sport postpones fixtures due to new Covid threat

Many games minutes away from starting

Following the government announcement about two unexplained new cases of Covid-19 on the Island, sporting bodies have taken the decision to postpone all fixtures.

The advice is for event organisers to call off events this afternoon and tonight, as a precautionary measure, and to avoid mixing households.

People are being asked to exercise extreme caution, stay safe and stay at home.

There were Hockey fixtures before government confirmed the new cases.

All this afternoon's Hockey, Rugby and Football fixtures have been postponed with many fixtures about to start with players ready to play.

Many had also travelled to venues to compete.

Manx Radio Football correspondent Tony Mepham spoke to Paul Moran on Saturday Live and explained the last minute decision to call all fixtures off:-
