Young Manx hockey sides compete in England

Quins and Valkyrs send teams

Two Manx sides were representing the Island in a youth hockey tournament in Leeds at the weekend.

Harlequins' under-12 boys and Valkyrs' under-12 girls both travelled across to the UK for the 2017 North In2Hockey Regional Finals.

Quins suffered defeats to Kirkby Stephen, Deeside and Mossley Hill in their matches despite some spirited performances against tough opposition.

Valkyrs faired slightly better as they registered a goalless draw against Alderly Edge and a 3-1 triumph over Liverpool courtesy of a hat-trick from Sienna Dunn.

Defeats to Newcastle and Wakefield, however, meant they couldn't quite progress to the semi-finals.

Ben Cunningham was also present at the tournament, taking part in the North Young Umpiring Challenge.
