Be realistic - Health Minister speaks out

A call to appoint an independent regulator of the Island's health service is impractical and won't be of benefit.

That's the belief of the Health and Social Care Minister ahead of a debate in Tynwald.

South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft is asking for Tynwald to legislate to appoint a regulator who would have powers to direct the Minister in certain areas and ensure appropriate services are provided.

However, Howard Quayle says major changes are already being made to the structure of the Island's health service and feels some political colleagues may be vying for position to get themselves re-elected.
