ON PRAISE TODAY - 9 JUNE 2019

PENTECOST SUNDAY

We reflect on the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, with thoughts from some of the Veterans as they  returned to the Normandy beaches.

Looking for a summer holiday suggestion?  There’s something for everyone at a quality Christian camp site in the Vendee region of France.

You’ll find all the details at www.springharvestholidays.com

In 2018, Charles Guard was commissioned to write a piece of music for the IOM Symphony Orchestra -  and so The Legend of St Maughold was born.  It premiered in the Villa Marina in December 2018, but on Saturday 15 June, Charles will tell the story again, with a recorded music soundtrack, in St Paul’s Church in Ramsey at 7.30pm.  On Praise today, we listen to some of the music, learn a little about St Maughold and discover the background to the work.  Incidentally, it’s free admission to the concert at St Paul’s, with interval refreshments and a retiring collection for church funds.

MUSIC ON PRAISE TODAY :

Come down, O Love divine (Vaughan Williams) sung by Maddie Prior and The Carnival Band

I Vow To Thee My Country sung by Wallingford Parish Church Choir

Extracts from ‘The Legend of St Maughold’ written and performed by Charles Guard

THE ISLAND SPIRITUALITY NETWORK

MEETS AGAIN ON

SATURDAY 15 JUNE

IN

ST JOHN’S MILL

from 10am - 1pm

We look forward to welcoming our guest speaker :

Reverend Mary Railton-Crowder

‘Bloom Where You are Planted’

‘Living out a vocation - from midwife to minister’

There is no set charge for ISN meetings though a suggested voluntary donation of £10 helps to defray our expenses.  However, no one is EVER asked for money (we just provide a basket at the back of the room, for anyone to place a donation if they wish) so please DO NOT stay away for financial reasons.   What better way to spend a Saturday morning than to gather together, sharing, reflecting and learning from one another.   We look forward to seeing you on Saturday18 May and to renewing fellowship and friendship

There’s a warm welcome for everyone - TAIZE services are times of gentle, relaxed worship - a more informal time of prayer that’s very popular with those who don’t feel ‘at home’ at a more formal Sunday service
